Trinity's Altar Guild is comprised of men and women who are called to serve God by preparing and tending the sacred spaces in which we worship. The Altar Guild is responsible for preparing for all Sunday and Wednesday Eucharistic services, as well as baptisms, confirmations, weddings, funerals and memorial services. The Altar Guild also prepares the Historic Church and Morrow Chapel for Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost. There are also has various workdays throughout the year, which are usually before Advent, Palm Sunday, Easter and Christmas.
Each Altar Guild member is part of a team which has responsibility for one week each month. Light housekeeping and set-up for the LOTS service and the 8:00 a.m. Chapel service takes place on Saturday. Following the 8:00 a.m. service on Sunday, the Chapel is cleaned and reset for the 12:30 p.m. service and preparations are then made for the 10:30 a.m. service in the Historic Church.
Almighty God, whose altar we serve, you are the source of all wisdom and understanding. Lead us and guide us in this ministry. Fill our hears and minds with your presence. Enable our service to be one of love.
Our hearts are greatful for the privilege of serving you in this capacity and for the clergy in this place. Help us, Lord, to be kind, thoughtful, and patient. Give us strength, faith, and confidence in ourselves, so that through you we may deepen our awareness of you. Helps us to be in communion with each other; be present in our daily duties; and bind us together in this ministry of service. Give us calm in our haste, and confirm us in your peace.
May our work always glorify your name. AMEN
