Contemplative Silence
changed to Thursdays
5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Room 210
"For God alone my soul in silence waits" (psalm 62).
Our time each week will begin with a brief reading, such as a psalm or a poem, after which participants will sit together in prayerful silence for 20 minutes.
No experience is necessary! The only requirements are a desire and a willingness to quiet one's mind and rest in the presence of God.
Please contact Wendy Wentland at wlwent@sbcglobal.net if you have questions about contemplative silence or about this weekly offering.
Check our monthly calendar for the occasional cancellation. (No Contempative Silence on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.)

"There is a huge silence inside each of us that beckons us into itself,
and the recovery of our own silence can begin to teach us the language of heaven." - Meister Eckhart - "To achieve silence: this is of all things the hardest and the most decisive in the art of prayer. Silence is not merely negative - a pause between words, a temporary cessation of speech - but, properly understood, it is highly positive: an attitude of attentive alertness, of vigilance, and above all of listening." - Kallistos Ware - |
