Trinity Children's Ministries

Our Nursery is designed and staffed to meet the needs of infants through 3 year olds.  Pagers are available so that parents can be alerted if their children need them.

The Nursery is in Room 111 (on the first floor) and is open on Sundays from 7:45am - 2:00pm.

FAQs

When is Sunday School and what curriculum is taught?

Sunday School is dismissed until we resume on September 12, 2010.   The Children will now participate in Children’s Chapel. Children will attend the beginning of the 10:30 service with their parents and follow the cross out of the church during the sequence hymn (the hymn just before the gospel reading). The children will return to their parents just before the passing of the peace after the blessing of the children. Children’s Chapel will meet during June, July and August.

BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 12, 2010
Children's Sunday School will resume from 9:30am – 10:25am

  • Children 3 years through Kindergarten meet on the first floor in Room 112.

  • Children in 1st through 5th grade meet upstairs in Room 207.

We use the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori based curriculum that helps the child build their own relationship with God through hands–on presentations from the Bible and the Liturgy.  To register your child for Sunday School, please fill out and email a Sunday School Registration Form.

How do I get my child Baptized?

Trinity Episcopal Church celebrates Holy Baptism several times each year.  Each celebration is preceded by a baptism class and rehearsal for parents and Godparents.  Typically, baptisms are celebrated in the context of Sunday morning worship so that the community is there to support each candidate and family, and to renew their own baptismal vows.  To schedule a baptism, please contact Carol Nyberg-Caraviotis (713-528-04100 x19 or carol.nyberg@trinitychurch.net).

Upcoming Baptismal Celebrations 2010:

July 18th, 2010
September 19th, 2010
November 7th, 2010

When can my child receive Holy Communion?

Baptism is full initiation in to the church and therefore children can receive Holy Communion from the time they are baptized.  Some parents choose to have their children wait and receive Communion when they are no longer infants.  We offer children a chance to reflect on the gift of Holy Communion at our semi-annual Communion retreat.  Some families use this retreat as preparation for Holy Communion while others use it as a time for children who have always received Communion to reflect on this great gift.

Can I bring my child to church with me?

Trinity church welcomes children to all of our services; they are full and active participants in our worshipping community.  Children’s Worship Folders are available in a basket at the back of the church and the chapel.  These contain children’s worship bulletins for children ages 3-6 and 7-12.  They also contain blank paper and crayons.  Pick one up each week as you enter the service and kindly return it to the basket when the service is over.
